Does Performance Pay Work?Posted by Admin in Teacher Pay |
In a recent report from researchers at Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and the University of Missouri, researchers shared results that found that the Texas Educator Excellence Grant incentive pay program lead to no "impact on student achievement". This means that in the schools where the TEEG performance pay was implemented, student results didn't improve!
In this Dallas News article, you can read how despite these compelling findings, Gov. Perry still backs incentive pay programs which pay teachers for improving test results. This hot topic has developed into a nation-wide debate on how to reward good teachers and encourage teachers to work in hard to staff schools.
Has anyone worked in a school that participated in TEEG or other performance pay programs? Did it motivate you to work harder for your students or encourage you to stay at that school?
